Description

The town's name has uncertain origins: for some historians it derives from the personal name "Briganti", while for others, it is probably linked to its proximity to Brianza. Municipality in the province of Vicenza, located at the foot of the Asiago Plateau, the town center of Breganze features several elegant villas surrounded by lush parks. The town is also famous for the production of excellent wines and for its manufactured products.
The area was colonized by the Romans, who divided the lands with their metric systems, each assigned to one of their centurions, while the first document of the existence of the town dates back only to area 983. Between the XII and XIII centuries, the center assumed a certain importance, especially thanks to the Poncio family, who were deprived of their property by Ezzelino III. Due to continuous floods, the inhabitants rebuilt the main center on a hill, while the seat of the present main centre in the plain was only completed in a later period. After the Ezzelini, the area came under the control of Vicenza and was the object of contention between the Dalla Scala and the Carrara families. In the second half of the XVI century it was acquired by the Visconti and then became part of the Serenissima Republic of Venice and lived a period of great stability. Since the advent of Napoleon, in the late XVIII century to the present day, Breganze shared the same historical events of the other localities of the Veneto region.

It features a square base and has a belfry refined by elegant windows, surmounted by a drum with a pointed spire and hosts 14 bells;
