Vittoria is located on a hilly area along the coast; it was founded on April 24th 1607 by the countess Vittoria Colonna Henriquez-Cabrera, who obtained this privilege by Philip III. It is characterized by a modern orthogonal plan.
Amongst the most important monuments we mention the Communal Theatre built in Neo-classical style in the 19th century, the church of S.Maria delle Grazie (originally built in the 17th century and later rebuilt in the 18th century), the Mother Church (17th century) with its annexed oratory of the Crucifix.
Vittoria is also famous for the production of Cerasuolo di Vittoria, a red DOCG wine.
